David Griffiths

My name is David Griffiths and I originate from Birmingham but have travelled extensively to gain expertise and qualifications in order to become an expert in my field.

In 1987, I qualified from Leicester Medical School and I did most of my early training in the East and West Midlands before taking a post as a Clinical Fellow in Reproductive Medicine & IVF at St James's University Hospital, Leeds.

In 1994, I was awarded a Fellowship to Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA and I worked at the Brigham & Women's Hospital.

I have also had the opportunity to work in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Center for Endometriosis Care, and at various hospitals in New Zealand.

You can see me at The Ridgeway Hospital, Wroughton and also at the Shalbourne Suite, the Great Western Hospital, Swindon. My secretary will be pleased to offer you appointment in the day, evenings or on a Saturday morning.

What I do

My practice covers all aspects of gynaecology. As I am both a Gynaecologist and Urogynaecologist I can see women who have both gynaecological problems and bladder symptoms, which is really useful as often these can occur at the same time. I also specialise in advanced laparoscopic surgery for menstrual problems, pelvic pain, endometriosis and pelvic floor disorders.

I perform approximately 540 gynaecological operations every year and of these 200 are classified as major procedures e.g. a hysterectomy

Personal profile

I have known my wife, Sarah, who worked as a nurse and midwife, since 1987 and we have four young daughters; Olivia, Zoe, Mia, and Amy. Each one is delightful but together they are a force to be reckoned with.
